it still doesn't work..." - Relient K
Sorry it's been so long since an update, but my internet works as it pleases, thus causing me to actually utilize my internet time for the things that actually matter in life rather than dilly-dallying with blogs and whatnot. Nothing really exciting has happened to me lately, except for the first time since EVER I have an A in my AP U.S. History class!! Woop! woop! We'll see how long it last...but as I always say, it's better to be short-lived than not lived at all. haha...basically, once you fail, at least you were succeeding at one point in time. :) which is basically the disclaimer of a lifetime. it seriously covers everything.
So, yea, that's pretty much it. I'm really tired and I'm going to bed, but my mother keeps asking me to update my blog and I decided to take advantage of the ever-so cooperative (and short-lived) internet and write a quick blog just so you know I'm still alive. Because I know a whopping TWO people follow this blog, both of whom were just about ready to order the paramedics over to my house to make sure I'm breathing....it's okay, guys. I'm still here.
:)
until next time!
peace.

"Im' gonna...
start all over..."
-Miley Cyrus
I'm not a big Miley fan, but those were the only lyrics with the idea of a new start I could think of. hahaa...
I'm SO excited because tomorrow is a new start of the second semester of my junior year! I'm used to getting straight A's, but this year, I'm getting four B's and only two A's. Plus, the two A's are in my only non-AP/HP classes. :( So it is my GOAL to try and get at leeeeast half and half. I think I can possibly manage an A in Spanish and Math...but we'll see. The incentive for getting super outstanding grades this semester is...okay. well, every two years (every other year) there is an Ingathering of people who went to this church in the Philippines, and my dad and his family are some of those people. Now. Last time it was in Hawaii. :D This coming summer, it will be in Pennsylvania. If I get good grades (meaning better than this semester), then my aunts will pay my way there!
woohooooo!!!
Also, I'm really excited because my older sister is going to apply to study abroad at Oxford!!! ANd if that happens...that will DEFINITELY require some visiting time. So, I'm pretty sure my mom won't let me go if I ask her now, because we don't even know if she's going yet, but I'm fairly certain I'll end up going. Just because I'm super string-headed and stubborn. If I want something, I'll set my mind to it, and through the fire, hail, and any other extreme natural disaster, I'll get it done. I just won't take no for an answer. So, yea. I would have to say that if she ends up going, I'll be going to visit her. AND that means, layover in NEW YORK (most likely)!!! Any one of my aunts is moving to New York. So that would work out just fine, now don't ya think?
;)
So I guess that's how I end up making things happen. I present a well-thought out proposal to my parents and explain to them how and why it would be beneficial to myself AND them. It's worked out well so far...we'll see how this develops. haha...
And now I've forgotten anything else I was planning on telling "you". (I put you in quotations because I'm not entirely sure I really AM talking to anybody. haha!)
peace.

and a happy new year?
Okay, so it's SUUUPER late into the new year to be writing a blog saying "happy new year!"
woops.
It's approximately 3:58am as I am writing this. awesome. However, it is a three-day weekend. That extra day really makes all the difference. really. It makes me feel so much more relaxed, and it's almost like a mini-vacation. I watched "Made of Honor" with one of my friends tonight and around 11:30, and then another friend came over and we always watch musicals together, so we ended up watching "Beauty and the Beast" at about 1:25am. I found my entertainment in a Swiffer, and I decided that if someone were to put me in a room with just a Swiffer and padded walls, I'd be good to go for at least a week. They are SO fascinating. I ended up detaching the top two segments of the Swiffer and waved it around with authority repeating, "Swiffa Sabaaaa!" ahhhh...the joys of being loopy. Everything is funnier at 3 in the morning.
Next week is finals for me, and I'm only confident in my....let's see...band final? HA. That's not good. I have straight B's (except for band) which is highly unusual for me, but I'm beginning to accept it. However, I only have a B in Chemistry because my teacher loses papers and has me marked down for about six or seven missing assignments, all of which are then marked as F's. So really I have an A in there.
tonight I made half-plans to go to the snow with the two friends that were over tonight, on Monday. (My mother knows nothing of these schemes yet. mwahahahahaaaa.) "Half-plans," meaning we'll give it a shot but it's not really top priority. We really want to and would enjoy it, but won't be completely devastated if our plans fall through.
BUT, this means I have to do all my studying and homework tomorrow, which is really today. And I'm losing time by writing this. So I'm going to leave now. I'll let you know how everything works out, cool?
(of course it's cool, you have no other choice.)
peace.

"We wish you...
a Merry Christmas..."
-a simple-minded genius
So it's been so long since I've written last, I can't remember what happened on the day that I was supposed to tell you about. whoops.
:/
whatever, tomorrow is Christmas Eve! I'm so excited. Another note: with all this "politically correct"-ness. It really bothers me how everybody has to water down the holiday season and say "Happy Holidays!"
Okay, I understand. you don't want to offend anyone, right? WHATEVER. I'm certainly not saying that it's okay to offend people, because I'm also not done with my argument.
I have and always will say "Merry Christmas." That's because I believe and have faith in this certain celebration. However, if you happen to celebrate Hanukkah, or Kwanzaa, or a different holiday, I would have absolutely NO PROBLEM with you responding in a different sort of holiday greeting. Then, I might actually learn something about you!
I really don't see the trouble in this. I'm going to say "Merry Christmas," and you can say "Happy Hanukkah," back to me if that's what you celebrate. I don't see the problem. really.
Plus, it's a proven fact in history that Jesus was born. It is a real fact. Now if you don't agree with people and you don't believe that He was God's son in the flesh, okay. Fine by me. Whatever, it's your life. But, I just don't see how you can be completely against Christmas or any other holiday for that matter. People grow up learning and celebrating different traditions and cultures, so just leave it alone. No big deal offending people. And I don't really know of anyone who would get truly offended if you said "Merry Christmas," to them. Well, I'm sure there are people out there who might have a problem with it, but I just don't see the point in watering it down.
bottom line: I'm going to say "Merry Christmas!"
and you can say whatever you like in response to that.
Also, today, my sisters and I decorated our gingerbread house today!
it was semi-fun, and semi-annoying. My little sister, kept sulking because she thought that her side was ugly. Danielle and I both reassured her that it was most certainly not ugly, but after many failed attempts of trying to convince her of the truth, we just decided to let her feel bad for herself.
And, the fact that Danielle is a very artsy and creative person decorating the wall next to Grace's probably added to the self-frustration level.
here are some pictures!
Grace's "unsatisfactory" side:

which ended up like this:

the ever-so creative Danielle's side:

and my sad little side:

So I hope that everyone enjoy their Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, New Year, and whatever else you might celebrate!
Merry Christmas!
:)
peace.

"Is it worth it...
can you even hear me?"
-The Used
sometimes when I can't sleep, I stick the end of my tongue out and leave it there until it gets dry and I can't feel it anymore. Then, I pull it back into my mouth and the dryness accentuates all the little taste buds and whatnot. Plus, it just feels really strange altogether.
And other times when I'm really tired, I get onto my blog just to tell you that I'm tired. like now.
I'll tell you about my dal later...I'm too tired now...go figure.
peace.

"Later on, we'll conspire...
as we dream, by the fire."
-Unkown (to me)
Tonight was what we call our Winter Ball at my school. I got asked by a friend of mine and I decided it couldn't hurt! So I went with him, and it was...oh...an experience. Here are the reasons I would care sharing with you...BECAUSE sharing IS caring!
:P
a) it was my first time going to a dance with a designated person to go with
b) I don't like the repulsive "dancing" people do nowadays that's really just a bunch of disgusting and utterly repulsive suggestive jerking and swaying movements that does not appeal to me ONE bit
c) I can't really dance...not because I physically can't, but because I don't like people to judge me or think that they should have the nerve to come up to me and start convulsing
d) none of my really really truly close friends went this year for reasons beyond my comprehension
e) I was tired and I actually wanted to sit and read a book by the fireplace
f) because I didn't want to participate in any of the so-called "dancing," it was slightly awkward when I was jsut standing there...I would try to explain it, but there aren't really any words for me to use that would make it sound just right...everything would make it sound worse than it actually was
g) no matter how many school functions or dances I go to, I will NEVER cease to be baffled about how the faculty members say they're "going to crack down on the inappropriate dancing," and yet, never do; leaving me in an uncomfortable situation and under a lot of peer pressure that I've put up with for much too long now.
UGH. So I guess it really wasn't that bad...those are all just the negative things. On the bright side, they had two chocolate fountains and a whole bunch of delicious strawberries and marshmallows, cookies, brownies, etc. And I got to bond with a dear friend of mine (well, she's "dear" now...). Her name is Tabea, prnounced "tub-ee-uh". But I just call her Tib most of the time.
:)
Anyway, she's a foreign exchange student from Germany and she's leaving in early January... :(
I really do enjoy her company. She's really fun. Somehow, my school ALWAYS has exchange students...I can't think of a year when we haven't had one, if not more.
Alright. Confession time. I hate to read. No, I absolutely loathe reading. But I saw the movie Twilight (twice!) and my friends finally convinced me to at least TRY to read the books. So I borrowed the first book from one of my friends and I just started it last night and I'm already on page 136!!! THAT IS SO EXCITING. AND an accomplishment! Really, though. If you don't know me, then you don't quite understand the amount of nagging it takes to get me to read even my assignments. So this is big news. And I concur, the book is MUCH better than the movie. So much more happens in the book that could not possibly fit into a movie without an intermission or something.
Also, I would like to add that I LOVE the Christmas season.
:D
It makes me happy.
peace.

Finally off Hiatus.
haha.
I declared that I was on Hiatus about an hour ago, after I realized I hadn't written on here for a good long while. My Thanksgiving break was fantastic!
:D
Some of my family and I went down to Southern California to do three college tours and Knott's Berry Farm on Turkey Day, and my dear mother's birthday (the day before Thanksgiving). One day we were in Hollywood, and I was somewhere else, but my mom thinks that she saw Jerry O'Connell standing behind her on the escalator! I LOVE him. He played one of my absolute favorite characters, Woody, in "Crossing Jordan." Unfortunately, that series ended.
:(
Anyway, I wasn't there to verify this possible sighting, but according to her, he was a very pleasant man--a very believable statement.
Knott's Berry Farm was really fun, and I've eliminated two schools from Southern California. USC and Pepperdine are two schools that don't quite fit my personality. I'm a big city girl who likes small learning environment. So, we'll see how everything goes.
Anyway, I really really really really really really really really really really really really really really don't want to go back to school tomorrow. And I got to spend some time with some great friends last night.
:D
Anyway, I'm considering doing home-schooling next semester...just to see how it goes. I always thought I wanted to, but never had the guts to leave my social life at school.
haha...
peace.
